Nathaniel "Nate" Malkow (Associate Teacher)
Specialities: Technique, Classical Rep, & Audition Technique
Nathaniel (He/him) is a master’s student at Louisiana State University, an alumnus of the Eastman School of Music, and a native of Beloit, Wisconsin. His background includes opera and classical voice, sacred music, musical theatre/crossover, stage craft, foreign language (German, French, and Italian), as well as music theory and history.
Mr. Malkow freelances in South Louisiana where he regularly collaborates with New Orleans Opera, Opera Louisiane, and St. George Catholic Church. He has participated in 7 productions at LSU, singing a variety of roles from Mozart to Sondheim and performs regularly with the LSU Chamber Singers ensemble. He spent summer 2022 in Schroon Lake, New York at the Seagle Festival-the county’s oldest training program for vocal talent.
In addition to his performance credits, Nathaniel is a budding voice teacher, having studied with notable voice pedagogues Dr. Lorraine Sims (LSU) and Dr. Jonathan Retzlaff (Eastman). He gives his students the technical, artistic, and acting tools to build their voice and communicate from places of confidence and vulnerability. Nathaniel provides a lesson space that is thoughtful, discovery-oriented, affirming, and playful. He believes in the power of singers’ voices to tell beautiful stories and make a difference in the world.
